with hexagonal phase were synthesized by hot solvent method and the influences of synthesis conditions on the formation and size of particles were also analyzed.The reaction temperature is the dominate condition.The results confirm that some conclusions that the hexagonal phase is thermodynamically more stable and a more orderly structure.It is found that with the nano-size decreasing
the conversion efficiency is significantly reduced.NaYF

nanoparticles with core/shell structure were prepared to analyze and compare further.It is indicated that the luminescence of the NaYF
4
:Tb
3+
Er
3+
particles with core/shell structure were enhanced significantly due to the reduced surface defects and the suppressed excitation energy quench.
