were prepared and their VUV excited fluorescence properties were studied. Gd
3+
plays an important role in the energy transfer process from Pr
3+
to Tb
3+
upon the excitation of VUV photons. No obvious energy transfer from Pr
3+
to Tb
3+
was observed in the absence of Gd
3+
; on the contrary
Pr
3+
transfer most of the energy to Gd
3+
after Gd
3+
was added
then the energy was transferred from Gd
3+
to Tb
3+
. So the conversion from the near ultraviolet emission of Pr
3+
to the green emission of Tb
3+
was realized.
