Solid state lighting technology based on light emitting diode (LED) provides people with an epoch-making new light source, which plays an important role in home lighting, automobile lighting, liquid crystal display, plant growth, medical health and optical communication. With people's pursuit of higher brightness, smaller beam and higher light efficiency light source, semiconductor lighting based on laser chip (LD) came into being, giving birth to a new generation of luminous materials - Laser phosphor, and a new generation of lighting and display technology - laser lighting and display, which has attracted extensive attention in academic and industrial circles, and then developed a new material design theory, and developed new products such as laser headlamp, laser projection and laser TV. Laser driven solid-state lighting not only brings the innovation of light-emitting materials and the new concept of light-emitting device design, but also has broad application prospects, and has important scientific research value and socio-economic benefits.
In this context, researchers at native and abroad have carried out systematic research on the design of laser fluorescent materials, luminescence saturation, material preparation, structure regulation, performance optimization and device application, and achieved a series of important research results. Therefore, we organized one of the special topics of "laser lighting and display", summarized the important progress in the field of laser fluorescent materials in recent years, promoted its cross integration with various fields, and assisted in the design and preparation of high-performance laser lighting and display devices. This topic focuses on the frontier research reports and special reviews of luminescence saturation, fluorescent materials, high color rendering and spot control. In the study of luminescence saturation, Professor Xie Rongjun proposed the light quenching mechanism of Eu2+ and Ce3+ doped luminescent materials, and Professor Zhang Le proposed the anomalous thermal quenching effect of laser luminescent materials. In terms of fluorescent materials, Professor Wang Le studied La3Si6N11:Ce3+ fluorescent glass film, researcher Wang Yuansheng developed Lu2SrAl4SiO12:Ce3+ fluorescent glass ceramic film, researcher Liu Xuejian prepared high thermal conductivity AlN-CaAlSiN3:Eu red composite fluorescent ceramics, and researcher Li Jianqiang studied YAG-Al2O3 nano fluorescent ceramics, Researchers Li Jiang and Liu Yongfu reported green LuAG:Ce3+ fluorescent ceramics respectively. Professor Wang Jing prepared K2SiF6:Mn4+ fluorescent glass ceramics. Professor Zhang Qinyuan developed Rb2SiF6:Mn4+ red single crystal. Professor Wang Lianjun reviewed the research progress of perovskite nanocrystalline glass. In terms of high color rendering, researchers Zhang long and Jiang benxue studied all-optical spectrum high color rendering long-range fluorescence conversion materials, Professor Wang Le carried out research on Optimization of color rendering performance of yttrium aluminum garnet fluorescent glass, and Professor Zhang Zhijun prepared high index white fluorescent glass film. In terms of light uniformity and light source evaluation, Associate Professor Xu Jian summarized the scattering regulation of laser fluorescent materials, and Professor Xie Rongjun studied the influence of light spot on material performance test. The above academic achievements show the new progress in light loss mechanism, new materials and their application in laser lighting in the field of laser fluorescent materials. It is hoped that the dissemination of academic ideas can trigger the inspiration of readers and friends and jointly promote the development of related disciplines.
