crystal film was spin-coated on quartz glass substrates through sol-gel route. The structure and luminescence properties of the resultant film were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and fluorescence spectrometer
respectively. The results of XRD revealed that the film was made up of Y
x
Ti
1-x
O
1-0.5x
grains with cubic structure in average size about 17 nm. Typical Eu
3+
emission peaks were observed and the strongest emission with red color corresponds to the
5
D
0
→
7
F
2
transition. UV xenon lamps
excimer lasers and mercury lamp are powerful excitation sources for Eu
