A Langmuir-Blodgett monolayer of sugar-linked polydiacetylene is prepared. After incubating with Escherichia coli K12
the color of the LB film is changed. The color transition from blue to purlish red is readily visible to naked eye and can be quantified by UV-visible absorption spectroscopy
