Starting from SSH model and applying the third-order time-dependent perturbation theory
the optical nonlinear susceptibility of one dimensional system has been studied.The effect of electron-lattice coupling on the nonlinear susceptibility is explained. The calculated third harmonic generation of polyacetylene is in good agreement with the measured data
