The International Conference on Mechanoluminescence and Novel Structural Health Diagnosis was
initiated in 2011 by Prof. Chao-Nan Xu (AIST and Kyushu University at that time), and other
distinguished scientists. This conference aims to provide an open academic platform for researchers
around the world working in the fields of mechanoluminescence (ML) and advanced structural health
diagnosis. It seeks to promote the development of materials science and accelerate the applications of
advanced functional materials, devices, and sensing technologies. Building on the resounding success
of the previous four conferences in Fukuoka (2011), Shanghai (2013), Hong Kong (2017), and Daegu
(2023), the 5th International Conference on Mechanoluminescence and Novel Structural Health
Diagnosis (ML-5) will be held on November 28-30, 2025, in Xiamen, China.
The scientific program of ML-5 will be constructed by plenary lectures, invited talks, oral
presentations and poster exhibitions. The organizing committee cordially invites scientists, engineers,
researchers, and students in the related fields to present their latest research findings at ML-5 and
engage in discussions on the cutting-edge developments in the following topics:
1. Discovery of inorganic, organic, and composite ML materials
2. Study on the ML mechanism
3. Luminescence under high pressure
4. Novel characterization methods for ML and high-pressure luminescence
5. Computational science related to ML and high-pressure luminescence
6. Emerging applications of ML materials and sensing technologies
7. Advanced structural health monitoring technologies
8. Other topics on mechanical sensing materials and devices
As a vibrant center of innovation and culture, Xiamen not only boasts beautiful natural landscapes,
rich historical heritage, but also fast-developing frontier technology. We look forward to hosting here an
active academic platform, where you can share the latest advancements in ML and advanced structural
health diagnosis, foster collaborative opportunities, and strengthen our global scientific community.
Whether you are a seasoned expert or a young researcher to the field, your participation will contribute
to the success of this event. We hope you will also take this time to explore the beauty of Xiamen and
experience its unique charm.
