Investigation of Morphology Related Cathodoluminescence Properties of ZnO Microstructure
ZnO microstructure was prepared by solvothermal method. The morphology varied only with the proportion of deionized water and ethanol in the solvent. The morphology and size of the ZnO microstructure were observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The spectra of the individual particles with different morphology have been carried based on a detailed characterization by cathodoluminescence (CL) technique which could achieve nanoscale region optical properties. The spatially dependent CL results of the synthesized ZnO microstructure were obtained. It is found that the luminescence properties are related to the morphology of ZnO materials
because the morphology difference would lead to the differences on the crystal quality
interface defects
the charge distribution on the surface
and the terminated lattice face of the crystal. The luminescence properties are finally determined by these factors together.
