Pure Green Upconversion Luminescence and Enhanced Photocatalytic Activity of Flower-like Hierarchical Bi2 WO6∶Er3+ Microspheres
microspheres were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. Bi

microspheres exhibited pure green upconversion lumminescence (

-doped content had not evident influence on the spectrum shape of Er

. Bi

WO

in addition to the aforementioned luminescence properties
also showed high photocatalytic activity for the degradation of RhB under visible light irradiation. The photodegradation efficiency of RhB reached 68.9% and 95.3% for Bi

and Bi

respectively. The enhancement of photocatalytic activity would be related to the both the larger RhB adsorbance and the visible-to-ultraviolet upconversion of Er
3+
ions.
