ENERGY TRANSFER FROM Ce3+ TO Tb3+ IN LaOBr: Ce3+, Tb3+ POWDER
We have systematically studied the interaction between Ce
3+
and Tb
3+
ions in LaOBr: Ce
3+
Tb
3+
. We have measured emission spectra of a series of samples with the model MPF-4 spectrometer.The excitation wavelength is 337nm.The emission spectra of LaOBr:Tb
3+
consist of the
5
D
3
-
7
F
J
and
5
D
4
-
7
F
J
(J=0
1
2
…
6) transitions. The main characteristic lines in these two groups are
5
D
3
-
7
F
J
(415.9nm
436.6nm) and
5
D
4
-
7
F
J
(485.4nm
543.1nm) transitions. In the emission spectra of the LaOBr: Ce
3+
Tb
3+
there are not only the emission band of the Ce
3+
but also the
5
D
3
-
7
F
J
and
5
D
4
-
7
F
J
transitions of the Tb
3+
ion when xce≤3×10
-4
. But the emission intensity of the Tb
3+
ion is about 15-25 times higher than that of the sample without Ce
